Internship Search—Online Resources

Securing a summer or January internship may seem daunting at first. There are many areas choose from, and many companies to look into within a specific field. Also, the geographic location of the internship may play a central role in your decision to apply for the position. Since you can't visit or call every potential employee, use the internet to uncover opportunities and discern among them. Developing your own research habits will go a long way in helping you find and get the one internship that you really want.

Step One: Experience

1. Log in and create a personal profile

2. View our daily and monthly career center calendar to see what interviews, workshops or information sessions are scheduled for this month.

3. Click on Jobs & Internships | Job Search | Internships link at the left side of the page and complete the fields you wish to search on--always make sure that it states "From All Available Sources"!

Step Two: Internships-USA

1. Log on; the username is "intern08" and the password is "work"

2. Click on "The Internship Series Online" and select a category of interest

Step Three: Summer Jobs and Internships

1. Click on the Career Center's internship links page

2. Three ways to search: General Sites (Getthatgig.com is interesting), by Field and by Region

Step Four: Career Search (create your own opportunity)

1. Create an account (the referral key is: Amherst1821)

2. Select Search

3. Click on fields that you are interested in. You can select the industry name to choose subcategories. Do the same for location and keyword, if necessary.

4. Click on Search Summary then Review Results and click on each company name.
