Creative Writing Courses
Writing Fiction II - May-lee Chai

Writing Fiction II (English 28) is an advanced workshop in fiction writing taught by visiting writer May-lee Chai. Prerequisite: one other creative writing course (this doesn't have to have been a fiction course).

Professor Chai's instructions:

Please submit what you consider to be your best work--no more than 15 pages maximum. Be sure to put your name and email address on your submission as I will be contacting you BEFORE the semester begins if you are accepted into the class. You can put your writing sample in my box at Webster 214 on the Amherst campus by December 18. Later submissions should be sent to me via email to mchai@amherst.edu as I will be off-campus and unable to check my campus mail until the new semester.

I will email you before Monday January 24th (our first day of class) to let
you know if you have been accepted. If you do not have access to your campus email account over break, then be sure to include an email address where you can be reached over the January break.

Additional Information

Please put your name on every page of your writing sample. Your contact information (school, year, phone, e-mail) should go on the first page. A cover note listing your previous creative writing course(s) and describing your writing experience would be a good idea. Please note whether you are applying for Fiction I or Fiction II.
