Christopher Reid
April 3, 2000. Babbott Room, Octagon, 4:00pm
Christopher Reid, a former poetry editor at Faber & Faber
in the United Kingdom, has published five volumes of poetry,
including Expanded Universes (1996). In his poetry, Reid
approaches questions of belief and imaginative freedom from unlikely
angles. He finds significance in the marginal, the endangered,
the apocryphal and the downright absurd. During his tenure at
Faber & Faber he edited works by Seamus Heaney and Ted Hughes,
including Hughes' Tales from Ovid and Birthday Letters,
the poet's collection of poems about his relationship with Sylvia
Plath.
