In 2004, Bronya and Andrew Galef (Class of 1954) presented a group of drawings and related wood sculptures by the British environmental artist, David Nash, to the Mead Art Museum. David Nash is known for the way in which he cultivates and prunes the natural environment, using oak, ash, and other live trees as his muse and medium. Through the course of many years, he nurtures and tends these woods; his poetic and spiritual cultivations can be found growing in the United Kingdom, Australia, and the United States. Spanning works from the past thirty years, this exhibition will include some of his more famous projects such as the Ash Dome series.
