Multivariable Calculus Audio Tour
In this episode, the students of Prof. Ben Hutz's Math 13 class describe the process of making three-dimensional models of objects measured in works of art at the Mead. The models are composed of spheres, cylindrical surfaces, quadric surfaces, ellipsoids, paraboloids, elliptic cones, and hyperboloids. For many of these students, visiting the Mead was their first experience in an art museum, and they discuss how this project inspired them, how it made them look at art differently, and whether or not they consider themselves to be artists.
