CIRCULATION SERVICES
materials available for check out: items from the circulating collections at Frost Library, Keefe Science Library, and Morgan Music Library. Books housed at the Amherst College Depository may be requested through the online catalog; journals and articles through the Depository Request Form. Circulating books listed in the online catalog and owned by one of the other schools in the consortium may also be requested through the online catalog. Ask for help with ordering material from the Five College Library Depository.
Interlibrary Loan is separate from regular borrowing. NEH participants who wish to make use of ILL for items needed for their research will have to create a separate account. Go to the Interlibrary Loan page via the Library Request Forms page and click on First Time Users. When entering information, select NEH 2004 as the status.
ILL staff will process requests for articles. Requests for books will be processed if the item can be reasonably expected to arrive in time. Participants are urged to work closely with the Reference Librarians when determining ILL options.
loan periods:All items borrowed must be returned before the end of the program. Amherst books and other monographs are due back Monday, July 26th. Five College books can be charged out for 28 days with patron initiated renewals available. Periodicals can be used or photocopied in library. (Amherst IDs can be encoded to work as copy cards.)
Items that have been recalled for other patrons have shortened due dates and should be returned promptly. InterLibrary Loan circulation periods are set by the lending institution.
notification: Notifications of recalls, overdues and new arrivals will be sent by e-mail if an email address is available, otherwise, notification will be sent via campus mail through the NEH sponsors.
finishing up: On the penultimate day (Tuesday), patrons will be sent a list of items not returned. The overdue notice will state the title, call number and date due of the overdue material. If the library is believed to be in error, patrons are asked to contact Judy Lively at the Frost Circulation Desk. The NEH sponsors will receive bills for any material not returned.
