Welcome. The Friends of the Amherst College Library comprises students, faculty, friends, and alumni. We actively support the Library, stay informed about its work, and participate in its development. Our programs reflect our sense of the Amherst College Library as a modern, dynamic institution while still honoring the Library's distinguished history and collections. We generously contribute to a variety of library acquisitions from rare books and manuscripts to reference books to software and databases. We also encourage and facilitate gifts to the Library.
We publish an annual Newsletter and support outside speakers. Our Robert Frost Library Fellowship has brought outstanding writers and scholars to campus. We sponsor an ongoing series of oral history interviews on videotape. For current undergraduates, we support a book collecting contest and each year send two students to do research at the Folger Shakespeare Library through the Folger Fellowships.
For further information about the Friends, please contact Sherre Harrington, Librarian of the College (sharrington at amherst.edu).
