Five College Library Catalog: Catalog to all books, music, videos, online resources, etc., in Amherst, Hampshire, Mount Holyoke, and Smith libraries. Search all together or search one library at a time.
ATLA Religion Database:
References to journal articles, essays in some collections and selected books, all published since 1949. For articles, use AC links to see if available online or in print.
Academic OneFile and Academic
Search Premier: Indexes to articles in many disciplines, including religion, literature, politics, and history. Some references back to 1975.
Philosopher's Index : References to essays in journals and some books in philosophy, back to 1940.
Google: Sometimes you should check contemporary issues or topics on the Web -- not so much for authoritative sources as for current popular opinions. Evauate what you see and use it appropriately.

Background: Encylcopedias, Dictionaries, etc.
Encyclopaedia Judaica online or Encyclopaedia Judaica (Ref DS 102.8 .E496 2007) in print: The most authoritative encyclopedia that covers all aspects of Judaism, Jewish law, history, biographies, etc. Bibliographies at the end of articles.
Encyclopedia of Modern Jewish Culture (Ref DS 102.8 E56 2005): A 2-volume handbook with brief biographies, essays on social and political movements, arts, etc. For quick look-up.
Civilizations of the Ancient Near East (Ref DS 57 C55 1995): Not useful for your paper but good for comparative background for the course in general.
