Jeffs Fall to No. 30 Salisbury, 6-4 March 20, 2006 Senior Andrew Green (Lexington, MA) opened the Jeffs’ offense in the bottom of the first, slapping a double and then scoring on Schonberger’s 17th career homer. The lead was stretched to four in the latter half of the seventh as sophomore Josh Card (N. Adams, MA) plated rookie Brendan Powers (Walpole, MA) with a double and junior Mark Mazzone (Wilmette, IL) knocked in Card with a base hit. However, Salisbury rallied late, picking up one run in the eighth and five more in the final inning to steal the win. Green finished 2-for-4 with a run scored, while classmate Dave Levinson (Chester Park, PA) was 2-for-2 with a pair of walks. Sophomore pitcher Chris Edgar (Massapequa, NY) scattered nine hits and a walk in six innings of work, while striking out six. Rookie Ben Goldfarb (Hastings-on-Hudson, NY) took the loss, giving up six runs on nine hits. Amherst returns to action Tuesday at 9 a.m. with a twinbill against Otterbein College in Fort Myers, Fla.BOX SCORE |
