Kehoe Guides Jeffs Past Keene State, 4-0 April 30, 2006
Kehoe was incredibly dominant, striking out seven of the 33 batters he faced, while walking just two. He got all the run support he needed in the bottom of the fifth as Keene St. sophomore Phil Mabey (Williamstown, MA) plunked back-to-back hitters to allow Amherst sophomore Neal Allar (Floyds Knobs, IN) to score. The Jeffs notched a trio of insurance tallies in the following frame as Allar and rookie Angus Schaller (Leucadia, CA) slapped consecutive singles to score fellow first-year Brendan Powers (Walpole, MA), and Green led the Jeffs, going 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI, and Allar went 2-for-4 with a pair of runs scored. Mabey went 5.1 innings for the Owls, surrendering all four runs on six hits and two walks, while striking out five. He drops to 2-2 on the season. Amherst wraps up its regular-season slate on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. as the Jeffs host local non-conference foe Springfield College.BOX SCORE |
