Jeffs Remain Undefeated with 2-1 Victory at Bates

Lewiston, ME - The Amherst College field hockey team improved to 3-0 (2-0
NESCAC) with a 2-1 victory at Bates College on Saturday. Senior tri-captain
forward Molly Gilbert (Penn Valley, PA) and junior midfielder Rachel
Carr-Harris (Pleasantville, NY) scored for the Jeffs.
Amherst drew first blood as Gilbert found the cage at 15:41
on an assist from fellow tri-captain Erin O'Hare (Bowdoinham,
ME).
The Jeffs carried their one-goal edge into halftime and then pushed their
lead to 2-0 after the break as Carr-Harris pounded home the eventual
game-winner with 24:31 remaining in the game. First-year Rachel
Greenwood (Williamstown, MA) scored with 14:20 remaining to
bring Bates within one, but the Jeffs stymied the Bobcat attack the rest
of the way.
Amherst sophomore goalkeeper Kathleen Boucher (Washington, DC) posted seven saves, while senior Sarah Judice (Granby, CT) tallied five saves in a losing effort for Bates, which fell to 0-2 (0-1 NESCAC).
Amherst returns to action Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. against visiting non-conference foe Springfield College.
