Jeffs Edged By Trinity, 8-7 March 25, 2006 Rookie midfielder Tim Thornton (Rockville Centre, NY) notched his first two collegiate goals and junior tri-captain Derek Cherney (Chappaqua, NY) added a score and an assist as the teams were deadlocked through the third quarter. Senior Joaquin Walker (Denver, CO) put the Jeffs ahead 7-5 with an unassisted tally at 5:25 of the third, but the Isbrandtsen and the Bantam defense shut Amherst out in the final stanza, allowing junior attackman Curtis Kahn and Burdette to get Trinity back into it and steal the victory. Senior quad-captain Sean Murray (Madison, NJ), junior Chris Hofmann (New Canaan, CT) and rookie Chris Fitzpatrick (Fort Salonga, NY) also tallied goals for Amherst, while senior quad-captain Kevin Boova (Summit, NJ) dished out an assist. First-year netminder Matt Pietroforte (Brooklyn, NY) gathered five saves. Amherst returns to action on Wednesday, March 29 when they host NESCAC foe Tufts University in their home opener at 4 p.m. |
