FROM A CONNECTICUT COLLEGE RELEASE Amherst led early on Tuesday, getting out to a 3-0 lead and allowing just one Camel score before the break. Conn. College evened the score in the third, however, and Brad Luckhardt put the hosts up 5-4 heading into the final quarter. After the squads traded scores, sophomore Will Ferrer (Greenwich, CT) put the Jeffs up 7-6 with 6:14 remaining. Conn. tied it up with less than three minutes to go on a Jesse Stevenson score, but Cherney’s late game heroics gave Amherst the well-deserved win. Ferrer and rookie Brett Miller (Wantagh, NY) each notched a pair of goals, while Cherney had an assist to go along with his game-winner. Amherst hosts Williams at 1 p.m. on Saturday in both squads’ final regular season contest. |
