Downs Earns Second Weekly Honor, Named ECAC Division III New England Men's Soccer Player of the Week

AMHERST, MA - Having already been named the NESCAC Men's Soccer Player of the Week on Monday, Amherst College sophomore midfielder Taylor Downs (Hastings-on-Hudson, NY/Hastings HS) added Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III New England Men's Soccer Player of the Week plaudits on Tuesday after accounting for key scores in a pair of Amherst victories over the weekend.

Downs headed in a pass from junior teammate Rob Madden (New Haven, CT) to give the Jeffs a 1-0 season- and conference-opening win over NESCAC rival Trinity College on Saturday, and followed with another header for a score, this time converting a corner kick from classmate Jonathan Pryor (Roslyn, NY) to tie the score at 1-1, in Sunday's 2-1 victory at non-conference foe Roger Williams University.

Amherst (2-0/1-0 NESCAC) returns to action Saturday at 2 p.m. at NESCAC rival Bates College.
