Jeffs Wrap Up Season With Narrow 4-3 NESCAC Tournament Loss to TrinityFROM A WILLIAMS COLLEGE RELEASE The Bantams used a trio of round-trippers, including a pair by first-year Ariana Mullin, in the first three innings to build a 4-0 lead. Mullin cracked a two-run homer in the first, sophomore Laura Cutler then launched a solo homer in the bottom of the second and Mullin hit her second, a solo shot, in the third, ousting Amherst starter Miya Warner (Berkeley, CA) from the game. Bantam hurler Victoria Moshier held a no-hitter for 4 2/3 innings and a shutout through five, but the Lord Jeffs rallied with three runs in the top of the sixth. Lindsey Harrington (Westford, MA) led off with an infield single to short and advanced to second on a single by senior Laura Trigeiro (Reston, VA). A two-base error allowed one run to score, and sophomore Ralina Shaw (Tumwater, WA) followed with an RBI-single to left. The third run scored on a fielder's choice, and the Jeffs had runners on first and second with one out, but Moshier retired the next two batters on fly outs to quash the rally. Moshier retired Amherst in order in the top of the seventh. She allowed four hits over seven innings, walking no one and striking out one while improving to 9-4. Warner allowed four runs on five hits over 2 1/3 innings and took the loss, falling to 14-7. 2006 NESCAC Softball Championship hosted by Williams College
