AMHERST, MA – The Amherst College women’s hockey team was blanked by fifth-ranked visiting non-conference foe University of St. Thomas on Saturday night, 7-0. The Tommies outshot the Jeffs 44-15 and remained undefeated at 10-0, while Amherst dropped to 4-7.

St. Thomas wasted no time in taking control as senior Maureen Hardwick (Warroad, MN) tacked on the eventual game-winner just 1:19 into play, capitalizing on the power-play. Classmate Tanaya Reitz (Moorhead, MN) assisted on the score, and proceeded to tally the first of her three goals on the day, finding the back of the net shorthanded just before the 10-minute mark. Hardwick finished with two goals, while first-year Katie Jaeger (Eden Prairie, MN) and sophomore Ashley Reinhardt (Eagan, MN) added goals as well. Junior Allison Turgeon (Bloomington, MN) dealt a trio of assists and rookie Jackie Carroll (St. Paul, MN) chipped in a pair of helpers.

Amherst sophomore Stacey Johnston (Kingston, ON) and junior Lindsay Grabowski (Princeton, NJ) shared time in goal collecting 27 and 10 saves, respectively, while senior netminder Becky Kilpatrick (Burnsville, MN) needed 15 stops to secure the shutout.

Amherst returns to action tomorrow (Sunday) at 4 p.m. against visiting ninth-ranked non-conference opponent University of Wisconsin-River Falls.
