Johnston Named NESCAC Women's Hockey Player of the Week

AMHERST, MA – Amherst College sophomore goaltender Stacey Johnston (Kingston, ON) was named the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Women’s Ice Hockey Player of the Week on Monday after leading the Jeffs to a trio of victories last week.

Johnston opened the week with a 26-save performance in a 2-1 win at Division II host St. Anselm College on Tuesday, and followed with 17 stops in her second shutout of the season, a 5-0 decision over visiting NESCAC foe Trinity College. She capped the week with 39 saves in a 3-2 come-from-behind victory over visiting conference rival Hamilton College.

Johnston is tied for fifth in the NESCAC in goals against average (2.77) and stands alone in fifth in save percentage (.904).

The Lord Jeffs return to action Saturday, February 4th at 2:30p.m., when they welcome No. 9 Elmira College to Orr Rink.
