AMHERST, MA – Amherst College junior Alyssa Briody (Hopewell, NJ/Princeton Day) was named the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Women’s Lacrosse Player of the Week on Monday after guiding the Lord Jeffs to a trio of wins last week.
Briody opened the week with a career-high eight points on four goals and four assists in an 18-3 beating of visiting non-conference opponent Wheaton College, and followed with four goals and an assist, including the game-winning score with just 3.9 seconds left, in a 12-11 overtime victory at seventh-ranked NESCAC rival Colby College. She capped the weekend with a goal and an assist in Sunday’s 9-8 win at Bates College.
A Third-Team Preseason All-America pick, Briody currently ranks sixth in the conference in points (3.82/gm) and seventh in goals (2.73/gm). As a sophomore, she was named a First-Team ECAC New England All-Star, and also took home Second-Team IWLCA All-New England and Second-Team All-NESCAC plaudits. She finished third in the conference in assists (1.38/gm) and seventh in points (3.44/gm).
Amherst returns to action Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. against visiting 13th-ranked Tufts University. |
