Briody, Brown & Noonan Tabbed Women's Lacrosse All-NESCAC May 11, 2006 A 2005 second-team honoree, Briody was named a Third-Team IWLCA Preseason All-America this spring. She currently ranks among the conference elite in points (62), goals (40) and assists (20), leading the team in all three categories. She also earned NESCAC Player of the Week honors for the week of April 24, after combining for 15 points in three wins for the Jeffs. Briody posted a career-high nine points on five goals and four assists in a 17-8 NESCAC Tournament first-round in over Wesleyan, tying a conference tournament single-game record, and also matched another NESCAC Tournament mark with six goals in a 15-14 double-overtime loss to Bowdoin in the semifinals. As a sophomore, she finished third in assists (1.38/gm) and seventh in points (3.44/gm), earning First-Team ECAC New England All-Star and Second-Team IWLCA All-New England recognition. Brown nabbed second-team plaudits for the second straight season after being named a Second-Team IWLCA Preseason All-America and playing a key role in one of the NESCAC’s top defenses (7.14 goals allowed per game) this year. A senior tri-captain, Brown has tallied 26 ground balls and 14 caused turnovers. As a junior, she was tabbed Second-Team IWLCA All-New England and earned spots on both the IWLCA Division III Academic Honor Roll and the spring Academic All-NESCAC squad. Noonan stormed on to the Amherst scene in her rookie campaign, starting at center all season and establishing herself as a force on both ends of the field. She ranks third on the team with 37 points on 28 goals and nine assists, leads the Jeffs with 30 draw controls and is among the team leaders in ground balls (19) and caused turnovers (15) as well. Noonan highlighted the year with a five-goal outing against Wesleyan University in the opening round of the NESCAC Tournament. Amherst moved on to the second round of the NCAA Division III Tournament yesterday with a 19-3 win over visiting Western New England College. The Jeffs advance to face Rowan University on Friday at 4 p.m. at Gettysburg College.
