Jeffs Continue to Add National Honors, Noonan Named Womenslacrosse.com National Rookie of the Year
June 7, 2006
AMHERST, MA – The Amherst College women's lacrosse team continued to add national awards to its resume this week as juniors Alyssa Briody (Hopewell, NJ) and Emery Sweeney (Darien, CT) and rookie Mary Noonan (W. Roxbury, MA) each picked up All-America honors from Womenslacrosse.com and Inside Lacrosse. Noonan bolstered her list of awards, taking home Womenslacrosse.com National Rookie of the Year plaudits and was joined on the All-Rookie Team by classmate Amy Craig (Denver, CO).
Having each earned Second-Team All-America honors from STX/IWLCA last week, Briody added First-Team recognition from Womenslacrosse.com and Inside Lacrosse, Noonan grabbed First- and Second-Team plaudits, respectively, and Sweeney took home Third-Team honors from Womenslacrosse.com and a First-Team award from Inside Lacrosse.
This set of awards wraps up an impressive campaign for the Jeffs in which they earned their sixth consecutive at-large bid to the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament and their fifth trip to the national quarterfinals in the last six years. Briody, Noonan and Sweeney are the 13th, 14th and 15th Amherst women’s lacrosse players to earn All-America honors over the last six seasons.
