Women's Squash Rolls Over Mt. Holyoke, 7-2

AMHERST, MA - The 16th-ranked Amherst College women's squash team rolled to a 7-2 victory over visiting No. 24 Mount Holyoke College on Tuesday night. With the win, Amherst improves to 6-9, while the Lyons fall to 6-9.

Amherst dominated the middle of the lineup, as senior co-captains Scotty Hanley (Sparks, MD) and Lauren Coape-Arnold (Scarsdale, NY), juniors Emily O’Brien (New Canaan, CT) and Abby Mantica (Sewickley, PA) and sophomores Libby Martin (St. Louis, MO) and Di Kirkwood (Bedford Corners, NY), picked up wins at the No. 2 through 7 matches. No. 9 sophomore Heather Nowak (New Haven, CT) also posted a win for the Jeffs, downing Mt. Holyoke’s Danielle Babcock (Lexington, MA), 9-5, 9-7, 9-5.

In the most hotly contested match of the day, senior Margo Nathan (Baltimore, MD) got out to a 2-0 edge against Lyon senior Preema Pais (Muscat, Oman) before falling in five games (9-3, 9-2, 6-9, 6-9, 5-9).

Amherst returns to action tomorrow at top-ranked Yale University at 6 p.m.
