Seventh-Seeded Jeffs Suffer 3-0 NESCAC Tournament Quarterfinal Loss to Second-Seeded Tufts November 4, 2005 The Jeffs dropped the first game, 30-25, and nearly rebounded with a win in the second, but Tufts fought Amherst off and held on for the 32-30 win. The Jumbos closed out the match in straight sets, taking the third, 30-23. Junior Kristin Quinn (Pacific Palisades, CA) and sophomore Whitney Kouvaris (Jacksonville, FL) notched eight kills apiece for Amherst, while senior tri-captain Kate Raddock (Stamford, CT) and sophomore Julie Berkley (Fullerton, CA) posted 15 and 12 digs, respectively. Rookie setter Sara Heller (La Canada, CA) dished out 31 assists and had seven digs. Junior Dana Fisher and first-year Caitlin Dealy led the Jumbos with 14 kills each, while senior April Gerry and sophomore Katie Wysham joined them in double-figures with 10 kills apiece. First-year Kaitlin O'Reilly dealt 45 assists, and Wysham and senior Courtney Evans each posted six blocks. Tufts improved to 26-5 with the win and advances to the NESCAC Semifinals where they will face the winner of tonights quarterfinal matchup between Trinity and Middlebury. Amherst fell to 17-11 with the loss and now awaits
word of a possible at-large bid to the NCAA Division III Championship
