Jeffs Move to 20-0 with 73-55 Win over BowdoinFrom a Bowdoin College Release January 27, 2007 BRUNSWICK, Maine – Sophomore Brian Baskauskas (Palo Alto, CA) scored a game-high 18 points to lead the second-ranked Amherst College men's basketball team to a 73-55 win at Bowdoin College Saturday afternoon. The Jeffs (20-0, 6-0 NESCAC) are prime candidates to rise to the top ranking in Division III following the win, combined with current top-ranked Wisconsin-Stevens Point's loss earlier this week. Bowdoin drops to 11-7 overall (2-4 NESCAC) with the loss. A late run by the Jeffs gave the visitors command of the game before intermission, as Baskauskas hit a trio of three-pointers with under four minutes remaining in the frame to give Amherst a 33-24 edge at the break. Amherst pushed the lead into double digits shortly after the half and Bowdoin could get no closer than nine points for the remainder of the game. Amherst’s 20-game winning streak is the longest in program history, surpassing the previous mark of 19 games set back in 2004-05.
