Amherst Men's Basketball Assistants Ron Buelow enters his 23rd season as head coach
Dave Hixon's top assistant with a wealth of experience in collegiate and high
school athletics under his belt. In addition to his duties at Amherst, Buelow
served 15 seasons as the head baseball coach and 18 seasons as the head boys'
basketball coach at nearby Ware High School, where he recently retired
from his work as a physical education
teacher after 38 years. He is also the former director of the prestigious Dave
Cowens Basketball School, and captained the baseball team at Plymouth State
College before graduating in 1967. Buelow resides in Ware with his wife Jean.
They have two grown children, Bill and Jennifer, and four grandchildren. Mark Gilbride joins the Amherst Basketball staff this year after three seasons as an assistant at his alma mater Bowdoin College. Mark is the recruiting coordinator for the Lord Jeff program and will look to continue a tradition of excellence by finding top student-athletes from around the country. His other responsibilities include working individually with players, scouting opponents, practice and game preparation, and managing basketball operations.
