Amherst Leads NESCAC with 37 All-Conference HonorsFebruary 20, 2007 HADLEY, MA - The NESCAC announced today the 2006-07 Women’s Swimming and Diving All-Conference Team. The top three finishers in each event at the 2007 NESCAC Women’s Swimming and Diving Championship receive All-Conference recognition. Eleven members of the Amherst College squad combined for 37 All-Conference honors, marking the most top-three finishes by any school over the weekend. Amherst junior Brittany Sasser (Belmont, MA) came away with Swimmer of the Meet honors for the first time in her career. Sasser, who already held the top times in the nation for the 100- and 200-yard backstroke, broke her previous championship records during the 2007 NESCAC Women’s Swimming and Diving Championship over the weekend. She also placed first in the 200-yard Individual Medley and was part of four first place relay teams for the Jeffs, the 400- and 800-yard Freestyle Relay and the 200- and 400-yard Medley Relay. Senior teammate Piper Pettersen (Kirkland, WA) was named Four-Year High Point Swimmer for her performance over her career, adding six top-three finishes at this year’s championship, including helping Amherst to first-place finishes in the 400- and 200-yard Medley Relay. Sophomore Meaghan Stern (Albuquerque, NM) also put in a solid performance for the Jeffs, matching Sasser with seven All-Conference honors.
