Amherst's Karega Named NESCAC Player of the WeekNovember 27, 2006 AMHERST, MA – The Amherst College women’s hockey team opened the Little Three season with back to back wins at NESCAC rival Wesleyan this weekend. Sophomore forward Tarasai Kerega (Detroit, MI) led the Lord Jeffs this weekend racking up five points in the two games. Karega was the playmaker in the first of the two meetings, assisting on all three goals in Saturday’s 3-0 win. Sunday she moved into the scoring column, notching two goals in a 5-1 win, including the game-winner. Karega leads the 3-1-0 Lord Jeffs, and is tied for the NESCAC lead in points after two weeks of play, with three goals and five assists for eight points. Amherst returns to the ice this next weekend, when they face NESCAC and Little Three archrival Williams on the road, Friday December 1, at 7:00 p.m. |
