Purpose

Amherst TEACH is an on-campus group devoted to education-related issues. The mission of Amherst TEACH is to increase awareness on campus of education-related issues through effective dialogue (talks, discussions, panels, and debates) leading to action; to provide resources (volunteer opportunities, job listings) for those interested in the field of education; to advocate for increased inclusion of education in the Amherst curriculum; and to establish and promote additional service relationships between the College and nearby public schools.

Under the last point of our mission statement—to promote service relationships between the College and nearby public schools—we have established a partnership with the Mentoring Program at Amherst Regional High School. Amherst TEACH recruits students for the Mentoring Program and helps to facilitate students’ service in the Program.
