SERIES DESCRIPTION

The VLADIMIR DIXON PAPERS are organized into 5 series:
  1. PERSONAL CORRESPONDENCE, 1923-1929
  2. CORRESPONDENCE:STIKHI I PROZA, 1930-1931
  3. WRITINGS, 1917-1929
  4. PRINTED MATERIALS, 1931
  5. PHOTOGRAPHS , 1902-1930
Series 1, PERSONAL CORRESPONDENCE, 1923-1929, 0.5 linear feet, is the most extensive series in the Papers. This series contains Dixon's outgoing correspondence primarily with A. Remizov and S. Dovgello-Remizova. The series consists of scrapbooks thought to be created by A. Remizov after Dixon's unexpected death in 1929 from the consequence of appendicitis. In order to preserve their original order this series is organized chronologically.

Series 2, CORRESPONDENCE; STIKHI I PROZA, 1930-1931, 0.8 linear feet, includes correspondence and reviews written and published after Dixon's death regarding his book Stikhi i proza. This scrapbook is organized chronologically and each correspondent is indexed.

Series 3, WRITINGS, 1917-1929, 0.42 linear feet, includes Dixon's notebooks containing poems and essays; unpublished poems and manuscripts in holograph and typed form; Remizov's foreword and commentary to V. Dixon's posthumous book Stikhi i proza. This subseries is arranged alphabetically by title and type.

Series 4, PRINTED MATERIALS, 1931, 0.8 linear feet, consists of two journals regarding anthroposophy (a system of mystical beliefs derived from theosophy).

Series 5, PHOTOGRAPHS, 1902-1930, 0.16 linear feet, includes two photoalbums primarily with Dixon's own photographs and photos of his wife and son.
