Room Safety and Security Inspections


The Campus Police Department and Physical Plant conduct residence hall room inspections during the winter break. Room locks on doors and windows are checked. Smoke detectors and other fire safety devices are checked and replaced if needed, emergency lighting is inspected and where appropriate window screens are inspected. Campus Police make every effort to respect individual's privacy, but prohibited devices, such as microwaves and hot plates are confiscated. Residents will also be fined and referred to the Dean of Students if fire safety devices are found to be tampered with or damaged.
