About the Dean of Students Office
The Dean of Students Office is concerned with the personal,
ethical and intellectual growth of students and with their general welfare. The
office's responsibilities include providing academic, career, personal and social
life counseling; developing and implementing support programs; administering the
College's student residential and extracurricular resources; participating in
the faculty and administrative formulation and evaluation of policies; and assuring
that students' needs are considered in College decisions.
Get to Know Us
The deans, assistants and secretaries
of the office are valuable sources of information. Most students would benefit
from getting to know well at least one member of the Dean's Office. Students may
call, e-mail or visit Deans' offices to set up an appointment with the staff member
of their choice or with the first available member of the office. Students who
need to see a dean on short notice or are unable to make appointments in advance
should call or drop by the office. The Dean of Students Main Office is in 105
Converse Hall (ext. 2337).
Emergencies
During the school year, there is a dean on duty 24 hours a day. To reach a dean
outside office hours, call the Campus Police at 413/542-2291 to get the name and
phone number of the dean on duty. If the dean doesn't answer when you call, call
the Campus Police back and the dean can be paged. In an emergency, always call
the Campus Police at 413/542-2111 (x2111 from on campus).
