Joe Paul Case, Director of Financial Aid, will conduct a general discussion of financial aid and review financial aid policies and procedures. All entering students who are recipients of financial aid from the College are expected to attend this session.
   
8:30 to 10:00 a.m. Open Hours to Visit College Offices.
  The Financial Aid office is located in Converse Hall, Room B5, the Comptroller's Office is located on the second floor of College Hall, and Health Services is located on Route 9 between Moore Dormitory and Taplin Hall.

  New students and parents can meet faculty and teaching assistants, find out about German studies, the residential theme house, and study abroad options.

Seven locations: Gerald Penny Cultural Center, Octagon; Friedmann Room, Campus Center 209; Stirn Auditorium; Merrill 1; Merrill 2, Merrill 3; and Porter Lounge, Converse Hall. Please refer to your ticket in your New Student Packet.
  A dynamic discussion of the academic life of the College with faculty members, Dean of Students staff, writing tutors, librarians, coaches and students. Parents are encouraged to attend this meeting and engage in conversation about what Amherst does to support the academic work of its students.
 
11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Religious Life Reception with religious life staff, parents, and new students. Cadigan Center for Religious Life, 38 Woodside Avenue.
  Discover Amherst's best kept secret: The Cadigan Center for Religious Life. Meet the religious life staff and student leaders while enjoying a light brunch.
   
11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tour of Campus, Meet in front of Converse Hall.
  Upperclass students will be conducting tours of the school, focusing on the buildings that you'll be going to in the next couple of weeks.
   
11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Learning Skills, Inc , Friedmann Room, Campus Center 209.

12:00 to 1:00 p.m. Twelve-College Exchange and Transfer Students Meeting, Terrace Room A, Valentine Dining Hall.
  Gerald Mager, the Registrar, will discuss degree requirements, transcripts, grades, Five College cooperation, and College regulations. Dean of Students Ben Lieber and Senior Associate Dean of Students Charri Boykin-East will discuss the sophomore and junior years, and issues specific to transfer and exchange students. Deans Charri Boykin-East, Dean Susan Snively, and Jennifer Innes will discuss academic support services. Pick up your lunch at Valentine and bring it to the meeting.
   
11:45 to 1:00 p.m. Russian Department Open House Lunch, Amherst Center for Russian Culture, Webster (2nd floor).
  A chance for new students and their parents to meet department faculty and upperclass majors to learn about courses, study abroad possibilities, Russian House activities, and the resources of the Amherst Center for Russian Culture.
   
12:00 to 1:30 p.m. Welcome to the BSU! The Octagon.
  Come enjoy a picnic lunch while being introduced to current members of the Black Students Union and this organization's mission. All are welcome!

  New students will have individual meetings at pre-assigned times (found in your New Student Packet) to complete their course registration. Student workers will be posted in the Tent and in front of academic buildings to help you find your advisor's office. Bring your New Student Packet!
   
4:00 to 5:30 p.m. Chicana/o Caucus - Introductory Meeting. Jose Marti Cultural Center, Campus Center Room 008.
  New students are invited to meet the Chicana/o Caucus. We will discuss the role of the Caucus on campus and forthcoming activities. Refreshments will be served.
   
4:00 to 5:30 p.m. Rainbow Room Open House, Morrow Basement
  Come and learn about Pride Alliance, Amherst's LBGTQA organization, and other resources in the area. Come for snacks, refreshments and conversation.

  Actor Jeffrey Wright, Class of 1987, will address the Class of 2011.

  This fascinating film is about a schoolteacher who gave her third-graders a first-hand experience in the meaning of discrimination. This is the story of what she taught and the impact of that lesson had on their lives. Discussion to follow with dessert. Sponsored by the Center for Community Engagement.
