9:00 a.m. to Noon Welcome to Amherst! Converse Hall.
  Pick up New Student Packets and room keys. Administrators and Resident Counselors will be in the lobby of Converse Hall and at residence halls to welcome you and answer questions. Comptroller's, Financial Aid and Health Services staff will be in Converse to clear up any outstanding paperwork. The Office of Alumni and Parent Programs will be handing out a free gift to new students.
   
11:00 a.m. to Noon Tours for Parents, Departing from the steps of Robert Frost Library.
  Upperclass students will serve as guides and answer questions.
 
11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Lunch, Valentine Hall.
  Charge for family members is $4.00 each. Students will need to have their I.D. Cards.
 
1:00 to 2:00 p.m. New Students Meet with Resident Counselors in their Residence Halls.
  Transfer and twelve-college exchange students will meet in Moore Dormitory, 2nd floor lounge
   
1:00 to 2:00 p.m. President's Meeting for Parents, Johnson Chapel.
  After opening remarks, Anthony Marx, President of the College, will respond to questions from parents. The President will be introduced by Allen Hart, Dean of New Students and Professor of Psychology. Members of the Admission and Dean of Students Offices will be present.
   
2:00 to 3:30 p.m. Reception for Parents, Tent, Valentine Quad.
An informal reception with light refreshments for parents. Members of the faculty and administration will be present.
   
3:00 to 4:30 p.m. Meeting for All New Students, Johnson Chapel.
  Anthony Marx, President of the College, will address and welcome new students, followed by remarks from Allen Hart, Dean of New Students; Gregory Call, Dean of the Faculty; Katharine Fretwell, Director of Admissions; Mohamed Zeidan, the President of the Association of Amherst Students (AAS) and Ben Lieber, Dean of Students.
   
3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Parent to Parent: Conversations about Being an Amherst Parent, Stirn Auditorium.

Join parents of current students in a candid conversation about their experiences and their child's experiences at Amherst. Come ask questions and hear first-hand what it means to be an Amherst parent.

   
5:00 to 6:00 p.m. Roman Catholic Mass, Chapin Chapel,  Chapin Hall.
   
5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Dinner, Valentine Hall.
Cost for family members is $5.00. Students will need their I.D. Cards.
   
5:00 to 7:00 p.m. "Traditions and History of Amherst College: An Evening Celebrating Our History" Frost Library, Archives & Special Collections .
  The Student Activities Committee of the Friends of the Library, with the generous support of the Amherst College Library, invites you to join us in the archives for an evening celebrating our storied history. Peruse scrapbooks and campus publications, listen to Robert Frost reading and songs from College music clubs, learn about old traditions, and much more! Light refreshments will be served.
   
7:30 to 9:00 p.m. Amherst College Music Showcase, Buckley Recital Hall.
  The Amherst College campus is rich with a variety of performing groups.  Enjoy an after dinner showcase of the groups in the Amherst College Choral, Jazz and Instrumental Music programs, and  find out how to become a part of the fun!  “Meet the Performers”  reception follows immediately after the performance!
   
  Auditions for the Amherst College Choral Society (Concert Choir, Men's Glee Club, Women's Chorus and the Madrigals) will take place Saturday, September 1 through Tuesday, September 4 in Room 3 of the Music Building. Please check the bulletin board outside Room 3 for available audition times.
   
  Auditions for the orchestra and chamber music groups will take place from Saturday, September 1 through Monday, September 3. Schedule sheets will be on the bulletin board inside the main door of the music building.
   
  Auditions for Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Combos will take place between September 4 and 7. Information as well as the piece that will be used for the auditions can be picked up outside Room 216. Please sign up for a time and take/prepare the piece. Auditions will be in room 216 (except for drum set players).
   
9:00 p.m. and on Keefe Campus Center Night!
  The Keefe Campus Center (Amherst College's center for programs and activities) welcomes you to campus. Join the Campus Center staff in a night of fun and excitement, at a party in your honor! There will be something waiting for you and your new friends around every corner! The night will be filled with music, novelty acts, games, and lots of food, contests and prizes. So be a part of the excitement; come to “Keefe Campus Center Night!”
