Monday, September 3 (Labor Day)

7:30 to 10:00 a.m. Breakfast, Valentine Hall.
   
10:00 to 11:15 a.m. Open Choral Rehearsal, Music Center, Room 3.
  New students are invited to join the Choral Society in the preparation of music for Convocation. Donuts and juice will be served.
   
11:15 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. Campus Organizations Fair, Tent, Valentine Quad.
  Representatives of campus organizations and clubs will be available to talk with interested new students. 
   
11:00 to 2:00 p.m. Lunch, Valentine Hall.
   
12:00 to 1:30 p.m. Meeting for International Students, Friedmann Room, Campus Center .
  Frances Tuleja, Associate Dean of Students and international student advisor, will review required immigration forms and procedures and other issues of special concern to international students. Bring your passport and I-20 form with you.
   
1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Meetings with Faculty Advisors, Faculty Offices.
  New students meet individually with their advisors to review their courses, ask any remaining questions, make changes if necessary, and add courses if their schedule is incomplete. Students should check in at their advisor's office no later than 1:30 p.m. Advisor assignments and Campus Directories with advisor office addresses are in the New Student Packets.
   
4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Dinner, Valentine Hall.
   
7:30 to 8:45 p.m. Opening Convocation of the College, Johnson Chapel.
  An academic ceremony formally opening the school year and welcoming new students to Amherst. Honorary degrees are conferred and an address is delivered by President Marx.
