REGULATIONS
  • Please remember that this is a family oriented show. All participants need to be clothed. No participant can wear underwear only; you need to be appropriately attired. SHAC members will let you know if attire is unacceptable during auditions.
  • All members of the room draw group who are attending Amherst this spring MUST participate in both the auditions and finals.
  • A burned CD with ONLY the song you are doing must be brought to the audition and final. CD must be queued to the start of the song. The CD must be labeled with the group #, audition time, and title of the song. (your group # is the number of your group from the Ordered List)
  • Audition and final presentations MUST be the same.
PERFORMANCE
  • Check in 15 minutes before you are scheduled to perform. A SHAC member will assist you.
  • You will have 2 minutes set up time and no more than 5 minutes for your performance.
  • During the finals, a standardized rubric will be used by the non-student judges, who will rank groups on a scale from 1-10 based on the following criteria: creativity, enthusiasm, lyrical accuracy, costume/props, crowd energy and tastefulness/appropriateness for family viewers.
  • In addition to the rubric, groups can earn extra points by incorporating a common place object into their performance. One object will be assigned to each class. Suggestions for the objects will be collected during SHAC tabling hours during dinner in the Valentine atrium and by email (shac@amherst.edu). Afterwards, objects will be chosen based on a poll of the Amherst student body.
