The Army of Darkness

Legend has it that Ultimate Frisbee® was founded at Amherst College during the 1967-68 school year. The campus seems to exude friendliness toward disc sports — on spring days, it seems that everyone is tossing a disc around. The Amherst College Army of Darkness is the latest incarnation of the Ultimate spirit on campus.

Army of Darkness ultimate is intense. We've come to be known as dark horse - a giant killer, if you will. We've taken out top seeds in the Northeast many times (most recently, a clutch victory over UMass at Spring 2006 Sectionals). Always the underdog, we shock the competition with crisp play, unconventional style, and utmost respect for the game. We're honored to work with Bill Stewart, our coach for more than 12 years and a stalwart on Cambridge's Metal Ultimate team.

Our program has produced some of the Northeast's finest club players, including Brian Stout, Jeremy Maunus, and Max Woolf, to name a few. But the core strength of the team is the influx of new players, whether ex-varsity athletes or complete newcomers to the sporting life.

You can learn more at our NUTC directory page.
