Quick biography...

I have been an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biology at Amherst College in Amherst, Massachussets since Spring 2003. I received a BA ('92) in Biology from Colorado College and MS ('97) and PhD ('00) degrees in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from the University of Arizona. My postdoctoral research was in collaboration with Dr. Pam Diggle in the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at the University of Colorado, Boulder. Check out my complete curriculum vitae for more details.

I live and work in Amherst with my partner Rachel. We have a cat named Cal who apparently likes to visit students in the dorms; please be nice to Cal if you see him.

Rachel & I have been traveling as part of our NSF funded research on Lycium and have been truly lucky to have seen some fabulous places (and plants – check out the Welwitschia below) and met wonderful Lycium-enthusiasts from all over the world (some photos below and even more here).
