| Yes, we bought
a house! It needs a bit of work (OK, maybe more than a bit), but
we're looking forward to it. In addition to renovating the house
to restore it to a state closer to its original 1865 condition,
we hope to make it a "zero net energy input" and "carbon neutral" home - that is, we will use
photovoltaics, hyperinsulation, hyperefficient lighting, and a geothermal
heat pump for all of our electrical, illumination, heating, air-conditioning,
and domestic hot water needs. Water use will also be minimized,
with low-flow fixtures and runoff reclamation. As we progress through this project, we'll
try to post photos here, documenting the evolution of our new home.
