Orientation - New Staff

    1. Have Systems Librarian add new employee to group e-mail lists and delete former employee.
    2. Set up new employee in e-mail system before their first day of work.
    3. Set up new employee in the online catalog/change password.
    4. Set up new employee for shared printer.
      • Acquisitions default printer should be the shared laser with an optional attached printer.
      • Cataloging default printer is an attached printer with access to the shared laser.
      • Serials can default to either printer.

Training

  1. Provided by immediate supervisor
    • All questions come to immediate supervisor, not the nearest staff member.
    • Not everyone is trained in everything.
    • Some questions lead to other areas or explanations.
    • Questions and answers are part of a training process.
    • As expertise develops, we rely on questions for determining next level of training.
