A compilation of articles on mostly Judaeo-Christian, Euro-American
themes, but with some coverage of "non-Western" art; see the "Index of

Illustrated Dictionary of Symbols in Eastern and Western Art. 1994.
A one-volume survey, organized into categories like "Animals",
"Human Body and Dress"; entries are brief, but helpful for quick identifications.
