Videos and DVDs

Looking for a good movie?

If you want a movie at Frost, and don't have a specific title or director, you can see some of the movies we own by genre -- including comedy, documentary, feature, science fiction, mystery, historical, adventure, biographical, gangster, thriller, romance, and even television programs. Genre listings don't include all films (yet!) -- but they do provide a starting point. If you like independent films, or foreign films, searching by distributers (like New Yorker Films or Women Make Movies) can be helpful.

Find/Borrow/Buy Movies

If you have a specific movie or television show you want to see, you can search for videos, DVDs, and films by title, author (directors and actors are treated as authors), keyword and subject. Amherst students, staff, and faculty can also borrow videos/DVDs from the other colleges that are not available here. And if there's something you think we should own, fill out a purchase request.

Viewing

There are several Viewing Rooms on Level A where groups can watch videos/DVDs together -- see the Circulation Desk on the first floor for access. Videos and DVDs can also be checked out by AC students, staff, and faculty and 5C faculty. See Circulation Privileges for details. Want to view films for your classes on your own computer? Here are instructions for streaming video.

Media Production

The production side of media has moved from the Library to the Academic Technology Services division of IT. To use the equipment, or schedule film screenings, please contact John Kunhardt (jwkunhardt or x2149) in ATS.
