Course Changes
To make course changes during the add/drop period, follow this procedure:
First, make an appointment to see your advisor. If you can't reach your advisor directly, call your advisor's department office for information about hours of accessibility. Department extensions are listed in the College telephone directory and on the Web.
If you need information about the availability of courses or whether courses or sections still have openings, have limits, or require the written consent of the instructor, call us ahead of your appointment at extension 2226.
Once you have arranged to meet with your advisor, make sure you have an add/drop form on hand. If you have already used the one in your registration packet, stop by the Registrar's Office and ask for another. In addition, you should take with you to the appointment any other documents which will need your advisor's signature, such as a Pass/Fail form or a Five College Course Interchange form. If you have questions about which forms are used for what purpose, call us at 2226 before your appointment. Don't forget, if you have multiple majors, all advisors must sign all forms.
When you are ready to make changes, bring all signed documents to our office between the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. or 1:30 to 4:30 p.m, Monday through Friday.
ALL changes to your schedule MUST be completed by 4:30 p.m. on Friday, September 15. This means not only adding or dropping Amherst College courses, but also electing a course under the pass/fail option, petitioning for a course overload or reduction, and any Five College transaction.
