How to Convert Your Amherst Grades to a 4.0 Scale
If you do not have any half course credits:
- Convert each of your grades to its 4.0 scale equivalent as follows:
A+ 4.0 A 4.0 A- 3.67 B+ 3.33 B 3.0 B- 2.67 C+ 2.33 C 2.0 C- 1.67 D 1.0 F 0
- Add all of the values and divide by the number of courses. The quotient will be your average on a 4.0 scale.
If you have any half course credits, you will need to calculate your average by semester hours:
- Convert each of your grades to its 4.0 scale equivalent as above.
- Each full course carries fours semester hours of credit and each half course carries two semester hours of credit. So multiply each full course equivalent by 4 and each half course equivalent by 2. Then add all of the values.
- Divide the total of the values by the number of your credit hours. The quotient will be your average on a 4.0 scale.
