Emily Joy Sullivan '09
Hometown: Buffalo, NY
Major: Music/African Studies

Emily Joy Sullivan hails from Buffalo, NY and is damn proud of it. She majors in Music composition at Amherst, with particular interest in opera. She also harbors an interest in Black Studies and History, and is pursuing the 5-college certificate in African Studies. She plans to spend the Spring 2008 semester in South Africa, studying music and education and hopefully meeting a really hot guy with an accent. She is working on writing an opera for her thesis, after which she'll hopefully do a composition fellowship at Amherst, and then become an elementary school teacher.
Emily sings alto and does percussion, as well as occasional bootie-shaking, for the Sabrinas, although you'll probably most notice her for her awkward conducting and certain other features, such as a great set of wits.
Emily arranges most of the Sabrinas' songs, partially because she is a loser and really, really enjoys picking apart pop songs and partially because...actually, no, that was it. She awaits, with breath that is bated, the day that the Sabrinas finally get their hands on that Saferide van.
Suggestions for songs to arrange are greatly welcomed "With arms wide open" (not a song we'll be singing any time soon).
