Leslie Anne Vallandingham Cassidy '08 joined the Sabrinas in the fall of her sophomore year. Although this marked the beginning of her formal a cappella career, Leslie Anne’s long and illustrious stint as a free-lance-amateur a cappella vocalist began at the tender age of 4. In nursery school, she mastered several technically demanding pieces, including “Bicycle Built for Two,” and “She’ll be Comin’ Round the Mountain,” complete with the lesser-known verse dealing with the controversial, adult subject of chocolate pizza.
By age 6, Leslie Anne’s musical talents were undeniable and her music teacher entrusted her with the highly coveted solo “Firefly” in the first grade smash-hit “The Insect Play.” Leslie Anne’s career peaked in the third grade, when she dazzled audiences in the role of “C Above Middle C,” one eighth of a human keyboard, in her elementary school’s critically acclaimed rendition of “The Wizard of Music Land,” an original musical based on the Wizard of Oz, only much better.
