It was a tight game from start to finish as the Jeffs came out on top. The first period was scoreless, as both goalies stopped several quality scoring bids. Amherst grabbed a 1-0 lead twelve minutes into the second period on a goal by senior Dan Moos (Wayzata, MN/Blake), who walked into the slot untouched and beat the Camel goalie between the legs. Hard work down low by Chris Gargiulo (Fair Lawn, NJ/Kent) set up the score. Conn would tie with a minute and a half remaining, and the second period ended 1-1. Halfway through the third period, another goal by Moos, this time on the power play, staked Amherst to a 2-1 lead. Amherst goalie Chris Addesa (Andover, MA/Exeter) made some big stops down the stretch, and freshman Chris Orzsulak (Longmeadow, MA/Springfield Cathedral) scored his first collegiate goal with just over a minute remaining to secure the win for Amherst, banging home the rebound of a shot by senior tri-captain Paul Gozzo (Avon, CT/Avon Old Farms).
