WILLIAMSTOWN, Massachusetts -- At Lansing Chapman Rink tonight, Amherst came from being behind 2-0 and 3-2 to tie the Ephs 3-3 in single overtime. The Lord Jeffs tied theg ame as a result of a hat trick by first-year Gretchen Bowe, who was recently named ECAC Rookie fo the Week.
Williams got on the board first at 9:52 in the first with a goal from senior captain Emmy Starr, who as assisted by Anna Groskin '98. Four minutes late, junior forward Danielle Kunian tallied her first goal of the season by defelecting a shot by Starr past Lord Jeff goalie Sarah Evans.
Despite a combined 25 shots on goal in the second period, neither team could add to their scores.
In five scoreless minutes of overtime, each team could only muster two shots on goal, not exactly the offensive flurry of the first three periods. Williams (1-7-1) will play at Wesleyan on Saturday at 7:00pm. Amherst goes to 4-3-1 with tonight's tie and will travel to Connecticut College for a 7:00pm meeting on Saturday.
