Track Teams Set for 2006-07 SeasonNovember 9, 2006 WOMEN'S TEAM Zandra Walton proved that she was one of the best middle distance runners last year and should be an even bigger force this winter and spring in both the 800 and relay events, and should get a lot of help from classmate Caitlin Murphy and junior Meg Ray. The junior class comprises a strong collection of middle and long distance runners and should rack up points in the 800 through the 10k as NCAA Competitors Kim Partee and Heather Wilson along with Katie Moravec all look to improve upon their success thus far. Sophomores Nicole Anderson (DIII NE Champ in the 5k), Elise Tropiano and Liz Dalton look to make their mark in the distance events. The sprinters should be able to rack up quite a few points in both relays and open events as DMR All-American Hannah Campbell and fellow co-captain Maria Millard (sprints, hurdles or the pentathlon) leads a strong group comprised of Kate Silverman, Jenny Mancino and Carly Levenson. Several first-years could have a major impact including Jennifer Rybak (Hurdles, multi), Molly Toomey (Throws), Amanda McGinn (hurdles / jumps), Sophie Galleher (mid-long distance) and Catherine Knuff (mid-distance).
MEN'S TEAM The distance runners will be led by school record holding junior Tomas Morrissey, and he will get tremendous support from sophomore Harrison Lakehomer and junior Mike Harbus. Seniors Rob Boley and Rich Wilson, along with second year runner Peter Foote will strengthen the distance corps indoors before getting to their specialty, the steeplechase, during the outdoor campaign. |
