in the past two years, i've actually made much use of what i did at WAMH and the whole notion of radio insurrection for the people, etc. i taught radio journalism, focusing on community reporting, to students in alternative high schools in chicago. sponsored by girl's best friend foundation and the lakeshore community media project, radio educate chicago was founded in order to counteract the sever underrepresntation of latinas in media, particularly radio.

i also worked as an associate producer for WBEZ 91.5 chicago, the midwest affiliate of NPR, producing specials and helping out with chicago's annual jazz fest.

other than radio? after radio? i teach conflict resolution through art now at the chicago peace museum. i go into chicago public elementary school classrooms, english-only and bilingual, mainstream and special education, and have regular classes throughout the semester on peace and conflict resolution. art's the method, so the kids call the class art class or peace class (i'm the peace lady, mostly). we do a lot of acting as well as writing, visual art, etc. it's amazing.

i'm still all about the rock, okay? i live about 5 blocks from chicago's all-ages punk rock sock hop, the fireside bowl. you can find me there most nights.

that's it, i think--career and rock semi-neatly encapsulated. viva WAMH.
