Season Depth Charts - Men
& Women
NCAA's - Mar 11th (Student)
The DMR team of Zandra Walton, Caitlin Murphy, Ginger
Polich and Shauneen Garrahan, along with Heather Wilson in the 5000 made
the trip to compete against the best DIII runners in the country at St.
Olaf in Minnesota for the NCAA Championships. Heather was the first to
race, and despite going through the opening mile in 5:28 found herself
at the back of the pack but running comfortably. She hit the 3k and 2 mile
in 10:27 and 11:12 but a little gap had opened up between her and the others
and it was just enough to make it difficult to close the gap as a lot of
the runners who would eventually fall off the pace, had a seemingly impossible
gap which can be a tough thing to deal with when you are feeling tired.
Heather ended up in 12th with a time of 17:55. The DMR team, hoping to
capitalize on the fact that it was the only team running completely fresh,
was not able to put their best race together. In the opening leg, Zandra
(1200) had herself in great position and was making the right moves when
need, and as the pace slowed down through the 800, she surged to the front
but then struggled in the last lap. Caitlin (400) and Ginger (800) each
ran strong legs to try and make up distance, and when Shauneen (1600) got
the stick, she tried to do a little to much in to short of time to close
gaps and paid the price late in the race, as we would end up finishing
9th. Not every race goes as well as one would hope, but you gain experience
from it, and learn from it and as we head into outdoors, the team will
be much stronger and looking for a little redemption.
Trinity Last Chance - Mar 3rd
(Student)
Looking for NCAA marks, tune-ups for the NCAA meet
next weekend, or to finish the season with fast times, the team headed
to Yale to compete at the Trinity Last Chance Invite. Opting not to travel
to Pennsylvania to compete at the ECAC's, the teams went to New Haven for
the Friday night meet. The 5k got the night started off for the women,
and hopes for an improvement on times and NCAA rankings took a blow in
the very first lap as Kim Partee got tangled up with another runner and
both went down on the track - Kim would get up and place a strong 3rd,
but her time was not an improvement from a week before, and Nicole Anderson,
while running under 18 minutes for the 4th time in 4 tries, was also not
able to improve on her mark as she placed 5th. In the second section of
the 5k, Liz Dalton capped her indoor season with a nice PR as she improved
her time 10 seconds. Heather Wilson, dropping down from the 5k to the mile,
finished 8th in that event. In the 800, Ginger Polich took the early lead
in the fast section and then held on for a 3rd place finish in that section,
and 6th overall, while Caitlin Murphy finished 9th overall - just off of
her season's best time. Jenny Mancino raced in the 300, seldom run in college
meets, and shattered the school record en route to her 9th place finish.
The 4x400 team got a great lead off leg from Maria Millard (59.8) and then
ran pretty much un challenged for the rest of the race as Jullia Rucker,
Carly Levenson and Hannah Campell would finish 4th. The DMR team of Zandra
Walton, Caitlin, Ginger and Shauneen Garrahan were looking to improve upon
their time from last week and move up in the NCAA rankings but were a little
off their "A" game, though they would finish 2nd and will look for redemption
at the NCAA's at St. Olaf in Minnesota.
Mike Harbus finally got the breakthrough that
has eluded him in the 5k, as he raced an evenly paced race with a strong
finish to grab 3rd and run to a 15:05, with Dave Schreiner just off his
pace in 4th place in a 15:08. Sam Hayman, with some help from Basile who
set the early pace in the 800, ran to a big PR of 1:54.61 - missing the
NCAA provisional standard by the smallest of margins. Steve Stewart ran
to a 51.79 in the 400 to finish 4th, and the joined with Sam, Basile and
John Babbott to run to a 3rd place finish in the 4x400.
Open New England's - Feb 24-25th
Competing against top DI, II and III competition,
and on a beautiful track, the teams came to race hard and were rewarded
with fast times, PR's, school records and NCAA Marks. The men got the day
started as Dave Schreiner raced to a new PR (15:06) in the unseeded section
of the 5k, as he placed 2nd (10th overall) with Mike Harbus finishing 8th
- 22nd overall. Later, in the fast section of the 5k, Tomas Morrissey,
despite the slow early pace, kept himself in great position and used a
strong last 800 to move into 4th place and capture a school record and
improve upon his PR - 14:48.96. Sam Hayman just missed making the finals
in the 800, as he placed 3rd in his section running 1:55.78 after making
a strong bid for the win with a little more then a lap to go. Basile Beaty
and Steve Stewart placed 17th and 20th in the 500, as they both ran in
the 66 second range. The DMR team of Sam, Steve, Basile and John Babbott
ran to their best time of the season to cap the friday action, while this
same foursome combined to finish 12th on Saturday in the 4x800 as they
would run to their fastest time of the season, running 7:54.
The women got off to a big start when Katie Moravec
ran away with the unseeded section of the 5k, as she destroyed the field
and ran under 18 minutes for the first time ever - just missing the NCAA
Provisional Mark (giving the team its 5th runner under 18:00 this winter)
and she would place 10th overall. Carly Levenson placed 16th in the 500,
as she just missed her seasonal best. The 800 was a strong Amherst representation,
as we had 4 women racing. Caitlin Murphy was in the first section and she
ran to a season best time of 2:18 (placing 19th overall), Maria Millard
was in the next section, and like Murph, ran to a season best, and fastest
since high school of 2:21.00. Zandra Walton and Ginger Polich were each
in the same section and both got out hard, and were rewarded with NCAA
Provisional marks as Z ran to a new PR of 2:14.51 (and advancing to the
finals) and Ginger raced to a time of 2:16.23, just missing the finals.
Hannah Campbell ran the 200, and took a second off of her best time of
the year in placing 23rd. IN the seeded section of the 5k, Amherst was
again well represented as Heather Wilson, Kim Partee and Nicole Anderson
would all be looking for fast times to improve their NCAA rankings. Heather
Wilson would shatter her PR by nearly 30 seconds as she placed 4th overall
in a time of 17:16, while Kim finished 7th, and improving her best time
be 2 seconds, while Nicole would finish 11th as she dipped under the 18
minute mark. The DMR would finish off the day for friday, and despite having
the first three legs having run an hour earlier in the 800 trials, the
team was looking to get a solid mark and get into the NCAA rankings and
they did just that. Zandra led off with her 1200 leg, was followed by Murph
who ran the 400, and then Ginger took the 800 portion and at the mile leg,
we were solidly in 5th. Shauneen Garrahan, coming back from a late fall
injury, started out conservatively and started to move on the pack and
at the bell had moved up into the chase pack and would finish in a 5:02
1600 leg to help the team grab 5th in a 12:03 - a solid NCAA mark. On the
2nd day of racing, Zandra raced to an 8th place finish in the 800 finals
- running under her old PR for the 2nd day in a row. SHortly after, she
would join with the same contingent that ran the DMR. Murph lead off with
a solid 2:20 leg, that was repeated by Shauneen in the 2nd leg before Zandra
would make up some ground with her 2:16 leg and then Ginger battled runners
from Maine and Providence to finish 3rd - in a new school record time of
9:15. The last day of the weekend was the 4x400, and the team of Maria,
Julia Rucker, Hannah and Carly finished 13th overall and just missed breaking
the school record and each runner, having run their fastest splits of the
season.
DIII New England's
- Feb 18th (Student)
The teams headed to the city, but split up as the
women went to Tufts while the men went to MIT, to compete at the DIII New
England Championships. Despite having a roster relatively smaller then
a lot of the teams, the women capitalized in the events that they were
entered and came away with a 3rd place finish for the 3rd year in a row.
The day's lone victory was in the 5000, where Nicole Anderson pulled away
from the field to run under 18 minutes and lead a point gathering in the
event, as fellow first year Elise Tropiano had another huge race as she
not only grabbed 3rd, but went under the 18 minute barrier for the first
time (had run 20:40 just last year in high school), Katie Moravec raced
to a new PR of 18:15 to grab 6th, while first year Liz Dalton broke the
19 minute barrier for the first time. Ginger Polich grabbed a runner-up
spot in the 1000, with teammate Caitlin Murphy finishing in 7th. The two
would team up with Zandra Walton and Tovah Ackerman to close out the day
with a 3rd place finish in the 4x800, Heather Wilson, after having led
off the 3rd place Distance Medley Relay - Julia Rucker, Caitlin and the
return of Shauneen Garrahan - grabbed a 3rd place finish in a hotly contested
3000, as she ran under 10 minutes for the 2nd week in a row and Kim Partee
grabbed points in 8th place. Maria Millard competed n the pentathlon and
not only did she have a great day, she also grabbed 4th place with a big
run in the days last event - the 800 - and broke the 3000 point barrier
en route to her school record performance. Carly Levenson finished 4th
in the 600 with a great run, and before that, teamed with Kate Silverman,
Kathryn Loomis and Hannah Campbell to grab a 6th place finish in the 4x200
and then teamed back up with Hannah, Jenny Mancino and Julia to finish
5th in the 4x400 and clinch the 3rd place team finish. Zandra, in addition
to her 4x800 leg, outdistanced the field in the unseeded section of the
mile, lowering her PR, and then grabbed 8th place in the 800 an hour later.
The men were led by the 3k, as all three guys
that were entered would up finishing in the scoring. Tomas Morrissey finished
3rd, running a strong race and pushing the pace in the last few laps, while
Mike Harbus held on for 8th place. Moments earlier, in the unseeded section,
Dave Schreiner lowered his PR en route to grabbing 6th place - leading
the entire race unchallenged. Sam Hayman won the unseeded section of the
1000, and wound up finishing 3rd overall as his time displaced all but
2 in the faster section. Sam would anchor the 5th place finishing
4x800 relay that was led off with a great leg by Rom Cabeza, and saw Steve
Stewart (who just missed placing in the 600) get tangled up on the inside
railing and valiantly finish the last lap in considerable pain before handing
off to Basile Beaty. The DMR team of Harrison Lakehomer, Tim Porter - with
his best 400 of the season - Ben Read and John Babbott would end up grabbing
an 8th place finish. Basile, finished just outside of the scoring in the
800, but lowered his PR in the process.
Valentine Classic - Feb 10th /
11th (Student)
A group of men and women traveled to Boston to compete
against to caliber competition across all divisions, and club athletes,
and came away with some outstanding results. Kim Partee lowered her best
time in the 5000, to improve upon her NCAA provisional mark as she ran
17:38. Heather Wilson not only lowered her 3000 PR by a huge margin but
she also broke the 10 minute barrier with a very strong, negative split
race as she placed 3rd in her section and 14th overall. Nicole Anderson,
in the same race dropped 5 seconds off of her PR to improve to 10:21. Carly
Levenson easily ran away with a win in her section of the 500 as she raced
to a very quick time of 1:20.85. Zandra Walton dipped under the NCAA Provisional
mark in the 800, as she raced to a 2:17.58 while in the next section, Ginger
Polich ran 2:18 and was followed in the section after by Caitlin McDermott-Murphy
in 2:19. The three girls in the 800, teamed with Carly Levenson to run
the fastest 4x400 of the year for Amherst, as they sped around the track
in 4:06.
Sam Hayman lowered his best time ever in the 800
when he won his section of the 800 in a time of 1:55.55. 2 heats later,
Jack Kiley also ran to his best time ever as he clocked in at 1:57.77.
Basile Beaty and Steve Stewart each raced in the 500, and both of their
hard efforts were rewarded with their best times ever - 1:06 and 1:07 respectively.
The four of these guys came back shortly after to run to a season best
in the 4x400, as they ran 3:23.16 with Sam splitting a sub 50 second leg.
Dave Schreiner, running in the 3rd section of the 5k, used a great last
mile to finish off a great race and drop nearly 30 seconds from his old
PR. Mike Harbus did not have his best race, but was still able to lower
his best time by 12 seconds, and Tomas Morrissey raced to a 15:00 in the
first section of the 5k.
Wesleyan Invite #3 - Feb 11th
With some of the team in Boston, and some of the
other teams athletes split between meets, the meet went very quickly and
we were in the hunt for victories in the majority of events that we were
entered in. Harrison Lakehomer led an Amherst 1-2-3 sweep in the 3k, as
he just missed breaking the 9:00 barrier in leading Rich Wilson and Rob
Boley to their respective PR's. John Babbott, starting to return to form
after his semester abroad, won the mile and continues to knock off big
chunks of time each time he races, while in the same race Joe Addison and
Eric Glustrom finished 3rd and 5th - they would finish 3-4 in the 1000
shortly after their mile run. The 4x400 relay was an All-Amherst
affair, as the three teams swept the top three positions, with Tim
Porter, Rom Cabeza, Ben Read and John Babbott joining for the win. Nate
Freese had a solo effort in the 5k, as he just missed breaking 16 minutes
and won the race my a very comfortable margin over his nearest competitor.
Ben Read raced arguably his best race ever, as he dropped down to the 600
and grabbed 2nd running 1:28. Rom also grabbed a runner-up finish in the
800.
First years Liz Dalton and Elise Tropiano dominated
their distance events, as both won by over 30 seconds - Liz in the 5k and
Elise in the 3k (breaking 10:30 in the process). Maria Millard grabbed
runner-up honors in the hurdles, along with preparing for her upcoming
pentathlon long jumping, throwing the shot and then finishing the day by
joining with Julia Rucker, Jenny Mancino and Hannah Campbell to easily
win the 4x400 relay. Hannah grabbed a pair of 3rd place finishes in the
dash and the 200, in addition to her relay win. Katie Moravec grabbed
a pair of runner-up honors in the mile and 1000, as she tuned up for a
fast 5k coming at DIII New England's. Kathryn Loomis grabbed 3rd in the
hurdles, as well as grabbing a 7th place finish in the 200. Julia, ran
to her best time of the year in the 400 as she led Kate Silverman and Mariana
Palacios to a 4,5,9 place finish. Tovah Ackerman had her best race of the
season to grab 4th in the 1000 while Lauren Benson finished 5th in the
800.
Smith Invite - Feb 4th (Student)
Waking up late and traveling down the street to Smith
to compete against 14 other teams in a scoring invitational, seemed to
be helpful as the teams got some great results. While not focused on the
scoring aspect of the invites, the women still finished 2nd while the men
finished 5th. With only one more regular season meet left, some of the
athletes were tuning up for the championships while others were looking
for qualifying marks. The men started the day and finished the day, with
a victory as Rich Wilson got the day started on a wining note with his
victory in the 5k - his first foray at the distance proved successful as
he raced under the 16 minute mark, with Rob Boley finishing 3rd and dipping
under as well and Peter Foote (4th place) running 16:00.04 - just missing
the barrier but lowering his best time by nearly 2 minutes. In the days
final event, about 8 hours after the first one, the 4x800 relay team of
John Babbott, Basile Beaty, Jack Kiley and Sam Hayman ran away from the
competition in posting an 8:00.83 victory - the "B" team of Rom Cabeza,
Steve Stewart, Ben Read and Eric Glustrom finished 4th. In addition to
Rich's individual win, Tomas Morrissey grabbed top honors in the 3k as
he led wire to wire, while Mike Harbus continues his breakthrough season
as he dipped under 8:50 ( a near 10 second PR) to grab 2nd, while Harrison
Lakehomer grabbed 6th and Nate Freese returned to racing with a a win in
the unseeded section that also saw Joe Addison have a great race. Sam easily
destroyed the field in the 600, winning by 3 seconds. Jack, after sitting
out the first few meets with an injury returned in quick fashion as he
unleashed a huge kick in the last lap of the 1000 to run away with the
win, while Dave Schreiner - after having dropped down from his usual distance
events ran a 4:29 mile (4th place) before winning his section of the 1000.
Basile broke the 2 minute barrier in the 800 for the first time as he placed
5th, with Rom and Ben coming in at 9th and 14th. Pat Benson, Tim Porter,
Steve Shashy and Flea finished 3rd in the 4x400, while the first three
teamed with David Pechman to finish 6th in the 4x200.
Like the men, the women's 4x800 team of Caitlin
Murphy, Heather Wilson, Zandra Walton and Ginger Polich finished the long
day with a dominating victory as they posted a very fast time for a near
solo effort. Heather raced to a win and a big PR in the mile, as she ran
5:07 and pulled Elise Tropiano to a big PR and a 5th place, with Nicole
Anderson in 6th. Zandra and Ginger went 1-2 in the 600, and it was a sea
of purple in that event as Maria Millard (who also placed 4th in the high
jump), Carly Levenson and Kate Silverman finished 4th, 6th and 8th despite
a drawn out warm-up due to meet delays. The 4x400 team of Maria, Jenny
Mancino, Carly and Hannah Campbell raced to a win with a 4:14 time, and
the 4x200 relay consisting of Kate, Julia Rucker, Jenny and Hannah raced
to a second place in a seasonal best time of 1:52. Caitlin grabbed 2nd
in the 1000, running a fast time of 3:02. Hannah, in addition to her solid
legs in the relays also finished 5th in the 200. Kim Partee led a 2-3-4
finish in the 3k as she, Liz Dalton and Katie Moravec all raced to their
best times with Liz breaking 11:00 for the first time. Kathryn Loomis placed
7th in the 55 Hurdles as she went under 10 for the 2nd weekend in a row,
and will look to hit the DIII mark next weekend at Wesleyan.
Terrier Classic - Jan 28th
(Amherst
Student)
With the majority of the team at Wesleyan, a few
of the women traveled to BU to race at the highly competitive Terrier Classic
in hopes of fast times. In the 5k, all three girls came away with big PR's
and 2 NCAA Qualifying times. Heather Wilson ran 17:39 while in the next
section Nicole Anderson ran 17:42 and Elise Tropiano ran an 18:28. Zandra
Walton did double duty, as she ran the Mile in 5:12 and then came back
2 hours later to join Ginger Polich and Caitlin McDermott-Murphy in running
the 800. Zandra ran a 2:18.67, Ginger ran to a 2:19 and Murph ran 2:21.
Similar to the crew at Wesleyan, all looked a little flat due to the work
and intensity of the last three weeks, but with the return of classes and
the cutback in volume, the legs should start to freshen up and times should
drop quickly
Wesleyan Invite #2 - Jan 28th
While a couple of the women traveled to BU for the
Terrier Classic, the majority of the team was at the 2nd Invitational of
the season at Wesleyan to compete against about 20 other teams in a non-scoring
meet. Kim Partee, despite battling the lingering effects of the flu, was
able to grab runner-up honors in the Mile and then come back later and
place 4th in the 1000. Mariana Palacios finished 3rd in the 500 and classmate
Carly Levenson grabbed a 5th place in the 800. Hannah Campbell grabbed
6th place in the 55 and then an 8th place finish in the 200 before anchoring
the 4x400 team of Maria Millard (with a super lead off leg), Carly, and
an under the weather Jenny Mancino to a 3rd place finish. Kathryn Loomis
made the final in the 55 Hurdles, placing 8th. Katie Moravec and Liz Dalton
doubled in the Mile and 1000, placing 10th/ 7th and 11th / 9th respectively.
The meet capped off the intersession period, and double sessions and with
the return of classes and normal practice schedule, we should see big improvements
in times and performances over the next few weeks.
The men, like the women, looked a little flat
due to the amount of work that we have been doing over the course of the
last few weeks but despite some fatigue, competed very well. Tomas Morrissey
grabbed the day's lone victory as he cruised to a win in the 3k, looking
to hit 5k pace splits in preparation for an attempt at qualifying for NCAA's
automatically in a couple of weeks. Before the 3k, he grabbed 3rd place
in the mile. Sam Hayman grabbed 2nd in the 500, and then anchored the 4x400
team of Basile Beaty, Rom Cabeza and Steve Stewart to a second place finish.
Mike Harbus, Harrison Lakehomer and Joe Addison dropped down in distance
to run the mile, and posted solid results as they placed 8th, 10th and
17th. John Babbott had a strong race in the 800, and then anchored the
DMR team of Harrison, Tim Porter, and Ben Read to a 5th place finish. Dave
Schreiner raced to a 3rd place finish in the 5k with a great opening time.
Basile placed 8th in the 400. Rich Wilson overcame his 3k woes to post
a solid time and a 5th place finish in that event, while Peter Foote and
Rob Boley placed 8th and 10th with their best marks of the season. Pat
Benson continues to improve quickly as he ran a solid lead off leg of the
B 4x400 relay.
Tufts Invite - Jan 21st
(Amherst
Student)
A second week of double practices and hard work under
their belts, the teams headed to Tufts for a scoring meet against 16 other
teams. While not placing a great deal of emphasis on the scoring aspect
of the meet, the women were able to grab 3rd overall while the men finished
9th. Focusing more on the individual aspects of the meet, both teams got
some fantastic efforts from a lot of the runners. The women's DMR team
of Caitlin Murphy, Carly Levenson, Ginger Polich and Zandra Walton finished
off the day with a victory as they ran away from the competition. Zandra
also had the day's lone individual win, as she cruised to a wire to wire
win in the 1000 before anchoring the DMR. The 3k was a strong event as
Heather Wilson, Nicole Anderson and Elise Tropiano finished 2,3,5 with
each runner running to their best ever times. Katie Moravec and Liz Dalton
went 4-5 in the 5k, with Liz running to her best 5k ever. Hannah Campbell
finished 4th in the 200 and anchored the 4 x 200 relay consisting of Kathryn
Loomis, Julia Rucker and Jenny Mancino to a runner-up finish. Carly, in
addition to her 400 leg of the DMR, also finished 4th in the 500 in a very
fast time, while Kate Silverman and mariana Palacios also ran great races
in the 500. Caitlin and Maria Millard finished 2 - 6 in the 800, as each
ran great races, while Ginger Polich finished 5th in the Mile. The 4 x
400 relays, both A & B teams, got solid legs from each runner and the
A team of Campbell, Mancino, Rucker and Millard grabbed a 3rd place finish.
The men were paced by Mike Harbus's run in the
5000, as he lowered his PR by nearly 20 seconds en route to his second
place finish. Sam Hayman continued to race well in new races as he tackled
the 1000 for the first time ever and grabbed 3rd place in a fast time.
Basile Beaty grabbed 4th place in the 500, as he won his section of the
race. David "Flea" Schreiner returned to the track for the first time since
sophomore year and picked up where he left off, as he narrowly missed his
3000 PR en route to finishing 5th. The 4x400 team of Tim Porter, Steve
Shashy, Ben Read and Steve Stewart grabbed 5th place overall, while the
DMR team of Sam, Rom Cabeza, Basile and Tomas Morrissey grabbed 6th. Tomas
finished 9th earlier in the mile, with Rich Wilson and Peter Foote also
having good races at that distance. Nick Canevari grabbed points in the
shot put, as he threw over 40 feet, while Nick Lynch grabbed points in
the long jump and then was over 40 feet in the triple jump.
Wesleyan Invite
- Jan 14th (Amherst
Student)
With a week of double sessions under their belts,
the large majority of the team competed for the first time of the season
at the Wesleyan Invite. It was a small meet, with not a lot of time between
events so it provided a good opportunity for doubling and running without
the pressure of a "big-meet" feel. Despite the heavy workload from the
week, both teams competed well and will continue to build upon this meet.
Heather Wilson was a double winner, as she dropped down in events to take
the mile and 800 - leading a 1-4 sweep in the mile as Zandra Walton, Caitlin
Murphy and Nicole Anderson finished just behind her. Ginger Polich won
the 1000, while Katie Moravec won the 3k to round out the winning performances.
Jenny Mancino grabbed a runner-up spot in the High Jump, clearing 5-00
and then grabbed 3rd in the long jump, while Caitlin and Zandra went 2-3
in the 600 - a short rest effort after their mile. Liz Dalton grabbed 2nd
in the 3k with a new PR, and then 4x400 relay of Murphy, Ackerman, Walton
and Polich grabbed 2nd place, while the B team of Kate Silverman, Hannah
Campbell, Julia Rucker and Carly Levenson finished 3rd.
Mike Harbus grabbed the day's lone individual
win as he broke 9:00 in the 3k for the first time to win by nearly 20 seconds,
while the 4x400 team of Basile Beaty, Rom Cabeza, Tim Porter and Sam Hayman
finished the day off with a victory. Nick Lynch grabbed runner-up honors
in the long jump breaking 20 feet, and then taking 3rd in the triple and
making the finals of the 55 in between the events. Nick Canevari grabbed
2nd in the shot put. Sam Hayman won his section of the 600, and finished
4th overall, after having run his first mile earlier in the day. Basile
Beaty finished 3rd in the 800. Peter Foote ran to a 3k PR to finish just
behind teammate Rich Wilson in 7th, while Rom, John Babbott and Joe Addison
finished 7,8 and 9th in the mile before coming back in other events later
in the day. Steve Shashy finished in the Top 10 in the 400.
Husky Winter Carnival - Dec
3rd
With a limited squad, the teams got the 2005-06 Indoor
Track season underway at the Reggie Lewis Track Center in Boston. While
most of the XC runners not in attendance, and others who had done a fall
sport getting back into the swing of things, those competing were those
who have been training this fall and a few of the cross country runners
looking for qualifying times off their XC strength. Kim Partee and Heather
Wilson kept training after XC Nationals and ran the 5000. Working together
for the near entirety of the race, they both posted 5k PR's as Kim finished
2nd in an NCAA Qualifying mark of 17:48 and Heather was a few steps behind
in a 17:56 - both will now take a break before resuming training. Maria
Millard led first years Carly Levenson and Kate Silverman to a 1-2-4 finish
in their heat of the 500, as they clocked 1:23's for Maria and Carly with
Kate coming in at 1:25. They were joined by Keyonte Sutherland in the 4x400
relay that posted a 4:15 finish. Keyonte was the top sprinter for the team
as she had the best marks of the day in the 200 and 400. Several first
