The First Emperor Qin Shihuang's (259-210 BCE) storied legacy is rich with enduring achievements, including the unification of China under centralized imperial rule, brilliant military systems and advanced engineering and assembly production. He is also reputed to have burned scores of books, buried scholars alive and achieved widespread domination through devastating bloodshed, but his driving purpose was even greater: he sought to conquer death. In order to achieve immortality, he built himself a tomb, first unearthed in 1974--a vast underground city guarded by a life-size terracotta army including warriors, infantrymen, horses, chariots and all their attendant armor and weaponry.

This exhibition includes ten figures--a representative sample of the actual army, which is estimated to include more than 7,000 life-sized figures and over 10,000 weapons.

Please click to R.S.V.P. by Wednesday, April 3, 2013
Tickets are limited and will be held in your name at the theater.

Lucky Bastard is a new "found-footage" thriller (rated NC-17) directed by Robert Nathan '70 (Law & Order, ER), written and executive produced by Nathan and Lukas Kendall '96.

The Lucky Bastard of the title is a porn website that invites fans to have sex with porn stars. An eager young man named Dave is given a chance to have sex with the fabulous Ashley Saint, but when Dave cannot perform, his humiliation triggers a violent series of events.

Lucky Bastard is a mix of themes that epitomize independent filmmaking. Going behind the scenes of one of our largest entertainment industries, the film offers a reflective take on the deepest currents in our society: its preoccupation with sexual desire, the commoditization of sexuality, and humiliation as a product of commerce.

Please note that Lucky Bastard is rated NC-17 by the MPAA for explicit sexual content--no one under 18 is permitted to attend. While the rating is appropriate, there is no actual sex in the film, and there is actually less sex than one might find on a late-night pay cable program.

For more information, see www.luckybastardmovie.com.

Business Attire

Kirby joined the Marines at age eighteen and trained at Parris Island, South Carolina. After surviving the rigors of boot camp, he then transferred to Camp Lejeune for advanced infantry training. The next stop was Omaha, Nebraska and finally on to California. He served in three island campaigns during the Pacific war: Bougainville, Guam and Iwo Jima. The book is a really a lovely collection of short stories told by a real "mud marine".
